Molybdenum-Lanthanum Wire

Molybdenum-Lanthanum Wire (Mo-La Wire) is a high-performance alloy wire made from high-purity molybdenum doped with a small amount of lanthanum or lanthanum oxide (La₂O₃). The addition of lanthanum improves the microstructure of molybdenum, enhancing its high-temperature performance, creep resistance, and recrystallization temperature. Mo-La wire is widely used in high-temperature applications such as lighting, vacuum electronics, furnace components, and aerospace parts.

1. Chemical Composition

Element

Typical Content (wt%)

Molybdenum (Mo)

≥ 99.90%

Lanthanum Oxide (La₂O₃)

0.3–1.2%

Other Impurities

≤ 0.05% (total)

2. Key Properties
Melting Point: ~2623°C (same as pure molybdenum)
Recrystallization Temperature: 1400–1600°C (higher than pure Mo at ~1100°C)
Creep Resistance: Excellent high-temperature mechanical strength and dimensional stability
Ductility: Improved ductility and workability due to refined grain structure
Oxidation Resistance: Better than pure molybdenum in oxidative atmospheres
Formability: Suitable for fine wire drawing and complex forming
