Phosphomolybdate acid hydrate applications are widely and mainly as oxidation - reduction catalyst, such as it can be used for methane direct oxidation to take formaldehyde, acetone and ammoxidation of propylene oxidation to produce acrylonitrile. It can also be as weighting agent used in silk and leather. It is often used as raw material for organic pigments and analytical reagent used for alkaloids, urea, xanthine, creatinine, ammonium and amine testing. In addition, it can react with other metals to analyze antimony, cerium, copper, thallium and vanadium and other trace elements. Phosphomolybdic acid hydrate and hematoxylin can use for nerve staining and use for producing corrosion inhibitors.

Acid catalyst:
In phosphomolybdic acid structure the proton is easier dissociation, so it has good acid catalysis performance. In water and mixed alloy, it can as catalyst use for acid ester exchange, epoxide opening, peroxide decomposition and olefin and carboxylin acid reaction.

Redox catalyst:
Phosphomolybdic acid anions are made up of a plurality of easily transmitted electrons and it can accept multiple electrons, so often as redox catalyst.

Metal corrosion inhibitor:
It has good acidity and redox reactive. When the metal material contact with acid solution, there has chemical reaction occurs. In the metal surface will form stable conversion coating, which plays corrosion inhibition, so it is widely used in surface treatment, hydraulic fluid, coolant, lubricants and pigments industries.
