Molybdenum Foil Belt

Molybdenum foil belt refers to a narrow strip, ribbon or band made from molybdenum metal. Molybdenum possesses a high melting point, high strength, and excellent corrosion resistance, making molybdenum foil belt widely used in various fields. It is commonly used in the electronics industry for applications such as semiconductor packaging, optical coatings, battery materials, and thermal heat sinks. Additionally, molybdenum foil belt finds applications in aerospace, chemical industries, and medical devices to meet specific requirements.

Currently, the primary application of molybdenum foil belts is their bonding with quartz glass. Quartz glass has a high softening temperature, excellent resistance to thermal shocks, and is the preferred material for high-intensity light sources. Most high-intensity gas discharge lamps use quartz glass as the material for the discharge tube or envelope. However, due to the low coefficient of thermal expansion and high sealing temperature of quartz glass, it is challenging to find a high-temperature-resistant metal with a similar thermal expansion coefficient for a matched seal. Molybdenum foil belts come into play in this scenario as they can form a well-sealed, non-matched seal with quartz glass. Molybdenum foil belts serve a dual purpose by sealing the lamp tube from the inside and providing electrical conductivity.
